During a dialogue with Martian in a discussion with Dr
Blake, the acronym “OBE” is incorrectly translated as “Overtaken By Events.” In U.S. government agencies, including those in the Intelligence Community and the Department of Defense, the correct/official explanation for the acronym “OBE” is “Overcome By Events.” Appeared in Graham Norton and guest stars: Cher/Keira Knightley/Michael Fassbender/Josh Brolin/Jalen Ngonda (2024). As “The Agency” (UK release 2024; 10 episodes, 50-60 minutes long) begins, we meet the Martian, a CIA agent who is suddenly called back to London after 6 years in Africa.
At this point, we are 10 minutes into Episode 1
Upon arriving at his new apartment in London, he discovers that there are listening devices installed everywhere. We then move to Belarus, where the man, clearly drunk, gets into a car and after a chase by Belarusian police, crashes it but survives. A few comments: This miniseries is based on the highly acclaimed earlier French TV series “Le Bureau des Legendes.” This is the latest film from Oscar-winning British director Joe Wright (“Darkest House”).
By the end of Episode 2, I was (and am) ready for more
There is a LOT going on as Episode 1 progresses (at least 3 parallel storylines) and it took me a while to see and understand the bigger picture. By the time we got to Episode 2, I was already fully engaged, as there is tension and drama everywhere. This miniseries benefits greatly from a great performance by the lead character Michael Fassbender (as the Martian Manhunter).
I can’t wait!
The first 2 episodes began airing on SHO a few days ago. The remaining 8 episodes will be released weekly on Sunday evenings. If you’re in the mood for a top-notch CIA spy thriller, or are simply a fan of Michael Fassbender, I’d happily suggest you check this out and draw your own conclusions.
